Bioanalytical toxicity assessment of environmental samples
Toxicity tests are used to determine if there are concentrations of contaminants in environmental samples (air, water, soil) that adversely affect survival, growth, reproduction of test organisms – this data can then estimate risks associated with contamination (risk assessment) in an ecological or human health context. This focus area is new research initiative for me since appointment at U of S and has allowed me to develop significant capacity in cell culture as a tool in toxicity screening of environmental samples.
